including Grace Church in Roanoke, Virginia (16 years), where he and Carol raised four sons: Mark, Brian, Arny (David), and Dean.

In 1981, Jack joined the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). He then pastored Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina (3 years), and Covenant Presbyterian Church in the Orlando area (12 years). At Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Jack served as adjunct professor. During his forty plus years as a pastor, Jack wrote over 1200 sermons, word for word, meticulously typing out the manuscripts with his "hunt and peck" method on the typewriter. Hundreds of these he also wrote in longhand before typing.

In 1997, Jack founded Equipping Pastors International (EPI), which provides practical theological and biblical training to pastors and their wives around the world. He served as seminary instructor in Kenya, Jordan, Ukraine, Singapore, Uganda, and South Korea. He and Carol also ministered in South Africa, Ghana, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Romania, Mexico, Brazil, and India.

After admittedly struggling for many years, Jack and Carol both called their last 15 years the best of their marriage. They traveled together and Carol taught pastors wives in other countries. The two took their “second honeymoon” and last picture by the Columbia River in Portland six weeks before Jack died.

Carol continues as a missionary for EPI, stays active in Orlando, and regularly visits Jack's four sons, their wives, and twelve grandchildren.
